Welcome to the first post of Coder to Corner Office (CTCO). This blog is a professional diary of sorts. Chronicling my personal journey through the world of software development and into the area of leadership. In some ways it’s a narrative about growth, challenges, and the continuous quest for knowledge within the tech sector.
I know, the first post on any blog can sometimes seem to lack some self-awareness. But, I think it’s important for me to note that this is very much a personal blogging experience and if my ramblings and or musings help anyone else or generate a discussion then great. Otherwise it’ll be a cathartic experience for myself none the less.

The Genesis of CTCO
It’s an interesting transition from being a software developer moving to a more strategic way of working. Leadership and dare I say management is not an easy move to make without investing time into understanding what it is you really need to do. it’s a profound adjustment that involves cultivating a new set of skills, perspectives, and strategies. So through CTCO and the opportunity to share insights gleaned from this journey, offering a blend of personal experiences, lessons learned, and professional wisdom.
Content Pillars
CTCO is built around several core themes, reflecting the multifaceted nature of this journey:
-
Starting Out as a Software Developer: Reflecting on the early days, sharing foundational advice, and the initial steps that shaped my path in the tech industry.
-
Soft Skills and Continuous Learning: The importance of communication, empathy, and lifelong learning in personal and professional growth.
-
Management, Coaching, and Mentoring: Delving into the art of leadership, the dynamics of team management, and the impact of mentoring on both mentor and mentee.
-
Technical Exploration: Despite the leadership focus, the heart of CTCO remains deeply technical, with discussions on coding practices, technological innovations, and strategic decision-making.
-
The Path to Leadership: Insights into the journey towards becoming a technology leader, including the challenges of navigating corporate structures, setting technical vision, and embodying the qualities of effective leadership.
CTCO will hopefully end up being a narrative of professional growth, a record of the journey I’ve taken with nods to the interesting things I learn along the way.Feel free to subscribe to the RSS feed on the landing page if you find the blog interesting.
